States: item, transfer, request
Understand why an item cannot move.

Three things in ToolFlux move through states: an item, a transfer and a supply request. The chapters describe them in flow; here are the tables, plus what each state blocks.
The item
The five states of an item
Where · The Status field, on any individual item.
- Functional — Can be handed over and used. The normal state.
- Broken — Reported faulty. Out of circulation until resolved.
- Repaired — Back from service and working. Distinct from „functional" because it keeps the fact that it was repaired.
- Scrapped — Permanently out of use. Stays in the history — it is not deleted.
- Missing — Not found. The state a Blitz stocktake sets.
What actually blocks a handover
Where · Visible in the item's panel; the refusal appears on scanning.
- The status — Broken, scrapped or missing — no handover.
- It is already with somebody — An allocated item is not handed to anyone else. It has to be received back first; the chain of custody has no shortcuts.
- It is in transit — It left on a transfer nobody has accepted yet. See below.
- It is in service — Gone to a provider. It returns through service receipt.
In all four the scan succeeds and the action is refused, with the reason on screen. Chapter 05 covers them from the scanner's side.
The transfer
A transfer has two ways of starting, depending on who initiates it, and that is where all the confusion comes from:
Push — «I am sending you»
Where · A location's panel → transfer.
- Created by — The SOURCE location's supervisor, who signs on the spot.
- Reaches — The destination's supervisor, in the incoming tab.
- Closed by — Acceptance with a signature, or refusal.
Pull — «will you send me?»
Where · The record of an item held elsewhere → request it.
- Created by — Whoever needs the goods. No signature — nobody has given anything yet.
- Reaches — The supervisor of the location holding the goods.
- Closed by — Fulfilment, which becomes an ordinary transfer, or refusal.
The supply request
The normal flow
Where · The supply area.
Four states, in order:
- Requested — The site has asked. The requester can still withdraw it.
- Approved — The warehouse accepted and assigned a vehicle and driver. The dispatch note comes from here.
- Dispatched — The goods have left.
- Confirmed — The site confirmed the quantities ACTUALLY received, item by item. This is where the difference between what was asked for and what arrived is caught.
Plus two ways of stopping, deliberately distinct:
- Rejected — The WAREHOUSE's decision.
- Cancelled — The SITE withdrawing, before approval.
Where states change
- The item — on handover and return, on sending to and receiving from service, and on a Blitz stocktake, which sets „missing" in bulk.
- The transfer — only by the destination's supervisor (or the administrator).
- The request — by the warehouse on approval and dispatch, by the site on confirmation.
Who is allowed to do what, in detail: chapter 02. The short rule is that the right comes from supervising the location, not from the role — except for the administrator, who passes the check everywhere.
