Scanning: QR and barcode

In short

The round button in the middle of the bottom bar opens the camera. It is the same scanner for handovers, returns and lookups.
A scanned code is matched against equipment, then consumables, then materials.
On the basic plan you get 20 scans a day. With the scanning module, unlimited.

One scanner, three intentions

Scanning is not a screen apart from the rest of the work: it is the normal way of telling the app which object you mean. The same scanner serves three intentions, and the intention is chosen before the camera opens, not after:

Handover — scan, pick the person, both sign.
Return — scan, pick the location it goes back to.
Lookup — scan simply to see what the object is and where it should be.

The round button in the bottom bar starts in lookup mode. Handover and return start from the cards on the home screen, so you cannot scan with one intention and act with another by accident.

What can be scanned

The code is matched in order: first against equipment and individual items, then consumables, then materials. The first match wins.

Both formats work: the QR or barcode ToolFlux generated when the item was added, in the format chosen during company setup. The manufacturer's barcode works too, if you recorded it on the item — useful for consumables bought by the box.

What stops a scan

Three situations where the scan succeeds but the action is refused. All three are intentional:

The tool is already with somebody

On a handover, the app says who has it and stops. To give it to somebody else it has to be received back first — the chain of custody has no shortcuts.

You do not supervise that location

The check from chapter 02 applies to every scan, not to signing in. The administrator passes it; everyone else works only on their own locations.

The item is in transit

An item that left on a transfer nobody has accepted yet cannot be handed over. Chapter 09 explains why.

The daily allowance

The counter resets at midnight and is held per company, on that phone. It is only spent on scans that do something: looking up a tool to see where it is counts, opening the camera without reading anything does not.

The settings that noticeably change your speed

Three switches in settings that look minor and are not, if you scan a hundred times a day:

Open details automatically after a scan — good for stocktaking, irritating for handovers in a row.
Sound and vibration on read — the only confirmation you can feel with gloves on, in noise.
Batch summary mode — scan the whole kit, sign once, get one record with every line.

In the console

The Scanează button in the header opens a code lookup. If the laptop has a camera it uses it; otherwise the code can be typed.

The result opens the item's panel, where you do what you need. The same daily allowance applies here — it belongs to the company, not the device.

What differs

The console looks up a code and stops there. Continuous scanning — read after read, without touching the screen between them — exists only on the phone, because that is where it makes sense: you are in the warehouse with your hands full. The quick stocktake in chapter 13 rests on exactly that mode.
