Consumables and materials

The fields of items counted by quantity.

Reviewed 2026-09-05

The two types counted by quantity. Their forms are twins; the operating dialogs are not, and that is where the whole difference lies.

The stock screens

A stock item's details

Where · Inventory → Consumables or Materials tab → tap the item.

The quantity available, current allocations and the three actions:

  • Allocate — To an employee, by quantity. You cannot exceed what the location holds.
  • ADD STOCK — New goods in. For materials you can record the invoice or batch.
  • Return / Receive — Coming back from an employee — see below, it differs between the two types.
  • Code label — To print and stick on the shelf.
  • History — Every entry, allocation and return.

Consumable return

Where · A consumable's details → return. Or scan in receive mode.

You pick the employee and the allocation, then split the quantity in two:

  • GOOD QTY — Goes back into stock, at the chosen location.
  • SCRAPPED / LOST — Leaves the records for good.

The two must add up to the allocated amount.

Material return

Where · A material's details → return.

The same two, plus a third — and that third is why materials have their own type:

  • PLACED IN WORK (INCORPORATED IN WORK) — It went into the build. It never comes back, but it is not a loss — the value goes to the site.
  • RETURNED TO WAREHOUSE — Goes back into stock.
  • SCRAPPED / LOST — A loss.

  • Quantityrequired — In pieces or in packages, if the item is packaged.
  • Number of packages — Appears on packaged items; converts itself.
  • Invoice / batch — Materials only. Ties the stock to the document it arrived on.

Above the threshold, the item leaves Critical Stock by itself.
